The rules of MOC ARCANA are ready. Behind the memes, it is a real strategy game: easy to learn, with enough depth to keep you thinking several turns ahead. Here is everything you need to know to play your first duel.
The goal: break the community
Each player starts with 100 Community Points (CP). They represent a token's popularity, its holders and its social strength. Every hit on a player takes CP away, and the first player who falls to 0 loses. You also lose if you have to draw from an empty deck.
Your deck
- 40 to 60 cards, with at least 20 Tokens
- Up to 3 copies of the same card
- Only 1 copy of each Legendary and Mythic card
- You start with 5 cards in hand. The first player skips the first draw and cannot attack on turn 1
The field
Each player has 5 Token zones for their meme tokens, a deck to draw from and a Dead Wallet: the discard pile where destroyed Tokens and used Events go. Some effects bring cards back from the Dead Wallet, so nothing is ever completely lost.
A turn in four steps
- Draw: draw 1 card.
- Main: summon one Token and play your Events.
- Battle: each of your Tokens can attack once.
- End: end-of-turn effects resolve.
Summoning and sacrifices
You can summon one Token per turn. Tokens of level 1 to 4 come in for free, but the strongest ones ask for sacrifices: you send Tokens from your field to the Dead Wallet to call them.
- Level 5: 1 sacrifice
- Level 6: 2 sacrifices
- Level 7: 3 sacrifices
Battle
- ATK higher than DEF: the defending Token is destroyed and the difference is taken from its owner's CP.
- ATK equal to DEF: stand-off, nothing happens.
- ATK lower than DEF: the attacker is destroyed, no CP is lost.
- Direct attack: if your opponent has no Token on the field, the full ATK hits their CP.
Events
Events are one-time cards played from your hand during your Main phase, then sent to the Dead Wallet. They are made to turn a duel around: reset the CP, call a giant, protect a Token or weaken the enemy at the right moment.
